The Making of a Disciple MTA Core Class

DiscipleMakers is a course of study in practical evangelism offered at Hampton Roads Church since 1999. As it becomes part of the core curriculum for MTA, it will now include a rigorous expectation for world outreach, understanding conversion, solid exegesis of Scripture, and effective guided discovery to lead seekers to Christ. The class is title "The Making of a Disciple" for the purposes of the MTA curriculum.

The MTA Class on DiscipleMakers will take place 15-17 May 2015 at Commonwealth Academy, 1132 Pickett Road, Norfolk, VA 23502. Arrive by 6:45pm on Friday and plan to leave by 5:00pm Sunday. Register HERE.

To equip a disciple to:

  • Understand Biblical  conversion
  • Know sufficient Scriptures that promote conversion to Christ
  • Effectively ask purposeful questions to help a seeker understand, apply, and contemplate Scripture through Guided Discovery
  • Disciple the heart of a seeker
  • Lead a seeker to saving faith in Christ through His Word

As a prerequisite to class, students are expected to:

  1. Watch the DiscipleMakers Videos for Class One, Two, Three, and Four (below on this page)
  2. Download and Review the Scripture Bank thoroughly - if you do not wish to download the Scriptures, they are also available for viewing as a webpage HERE.
  3. Download and Complete two Purposeful Question Worksheets for a seeker study on Seeking God (using five Scriptures of your choosing) and Discipleship of Jesus (using five Scriptures of your choosing)
  4. Reading Prerequisite: Read Baptism A Biblical Study by Jack Cottrell, Repentance by Edward Anton, and The Master Plan of Evangelism by Robert Coleman.
