Before you come to class on May 16 at 9:00am through May 19 14 ending at 5pm, complete the following prerequites:
Read Biblical Preaching by Haddon Robinson
Watch the lecture videos on Biblical Preaching (the first five below)
Please Complete a short document which will include your Sermon Outline (as per the book's recommendation) as well as the following information:
Your Text's Big Idea (exegetical OR Then&There),
Your Sermon's Big Idea (homiletical OR Here&Now),
A quick analysis of your audience's needs
Sermon Purpose (what moral change do you strive to affect)
Sermon Style (and why you chose that style to best achieve your purpose)
Be ready to hand in this document with your overall sermon outline and discuss it during class. Also be ready to preach a 5 minute section of your sermon (assuming that your sermon will be approximately 25-40 minutes in total length).
Registration and Housing for Students at HRC
Both Biblical Interpretation and Biblical Preaching are together at Hampton Roads Church 2022 May 16-19. There is a $50 registration fee for these classes, and lodging is provided by host families in the church. Register via the link below.
