We use Periscope to livecast our teaching events. When you see one of the widget icons below indicate "live" (it will also turn from blue to red) then click the icon. 

Clicking the button will open a new window displaying the user's profile page (the user is either Matt or Ed). If the user is LIVE when the profile page loads, their broadcast will automatically start playing.
